Many of you know my step/Godmother, Nancy. She passed away last week. I had the privilege of being with her when she left, but it has been hard for the family. Though she was very difficult to get along with for many years, she and I had finally worked things out and had a few very good years, for which I am thankful. Today we lay her to rest, near a friend who died in a skateboarding accident.

It went well, thanks, all
The service was well-attended by people who will miss her, including some of my kids' friends. The Mass was beautiful with her favorite current priest singing in parts. He even sang a prayer in his native language (he is from Congo), which she would have loved. Most folk stayed for the reception, and the eats were plentiful. It was a bright, sunny, winter day for the burial, too. So, it was a rough day, but it was a good day.
