In sympathy and as a memorial to Werner von Trapp.
Delonix regia "flava" , common name: Royal Poinciana "Smathers Gold"
In the Fabaceae/Leguminosae (bean) family.
It displays "nyctinastic" behavior in that the leaves fold closed at night as if they were sleeping. Like a "prayer plant."

A most excellent choice, then. I thought it might be Austrian, considering it was to honor Mr. von Trapp. Although not Austiran, it still honors him well.

Yeah, it is, but yet there is a bright side. He did make it to 91, an age he wouldn't have made it to see if Hitler'd had his way, though.

Not a musicals kind of guy. I'm sure I saw it as a kid, (Mom liked that kind of stuff), so I'm sure I prolly did see it once or thirty times. I have blocked that pain from memory.

Yeah, they are long-lived and that is cool!
My guess is lifestyle and faith has much to do with how long they are living.
