Argh! I know, it sucks! Let us enjoy where we are in time instead of forcing us ahead!

Don't worry, its just the over commercialization of a holiday the because of the industries moved to heathen gift day from its original roots.

If the druids following a lunar callender there would be a direct correlation between the stars creation and the Saviour

The 25th of December was used as a Pagan festival as it was thought to be the winter solstice (the actual correct date of December 21st was not established until much later). The date was in use long before the supposed birth of Christ and was adopted by the Catholic church in order to forcefull stamp out any other forms of worship - the same way that many early churches in Britain were built on the sites of pagan worship.

Well, Dweeb, the shepherds were in their fields watching over their sheep at night (See Luke 2). This would not have been occuring on the winter solstice.
No, we cannot prove when he was born, date wise. Chances our we have our BC/AD off as well. In fact, it is more than likely we do.

Especially when the differences between the Julian and Gregorian calenders are considered.

And, truthfully, it doesn't matter when the holiday is.

I think the non-Christians around the time the festival was introduced might have disagreed

The heirarchy of the Catholic Church, yes, I agree with you they would have.
But in reality, do we need to celebrate it on any one day? No. Since we do not know when He was born, we can celebrate it on any day. In fact, we don't need to celebrate it at all.

Or on the other hand, celebrate the spirit of the day every day
