Well, the way I see it is this: if a person is not allowed to say no to a sale, even to the government, is the person really free?

This project is not about public safety or public need. We can have the memorial without this land.

If they force him to give up the land, even though they compensate him for it, they are taking his freedom away. Plain and simple. And I don't doubt one bit that they would do the same to you or me if someone wanted it badly enough.

"He will take the best of your fields and your vineyards and your olive groves and give them to his servants."
1 Samuel 8:14

In the Bible, God warned Israel about the dangers of insisting on having a king rather than submitting to God Himself.

We don't have to be a nation that serves God in order for His wisdom to still be evident.

Let's face it. When we put a person in charge of us, he WILL do what he wants. I think this is true whether it's the President, Congress, Governor, or whatever level of government.

Like Nixon said, "When the President does it, it's not illegal."

Thinking 'bout a revolution?

I was thinking of a different passage in the Bible, another king who wanted a field and let his wife take it for him. He died in battle and his wife's body was eaten by dogs.

Then I thought of yet another king who wanted a field to place an altar/memorial. The owner of the field offered it to the king, yet this king refused to take it without paying the man well for it because he said it would be wrong to just take it. This king died in his old age peacefully.

"Eminent domain" overtakes all.

Think of it, though...yeah, the government has the ability to use eminent domain, but, do we really want to forcibly take someone's land to put up a memorial to freedom?

Hunh what!??

Eh, I know you get it, and no one here is arguing with me, I'm just ranting. lol

I made my views known to the White House, too. Short, sweet, and to the point.

The White House is one of the last places I'd want to be or be in right now (or ever.)

t, the irony of that story is excruciating. Glorifying freedom by taking someone else's. Kinda reminds me of how we "acquired" this country in the first place.

New one

I'm jamming to Static-X right now. I use a site called Project Playlist to listen to music (the artists get paid for it). One day, I click on a link that reads "Cannibal" so I assume that's the song it will play. Then I see another link that has the same title. I click on it and it plays something completely different. I realize the second one I tried was the correct "Cannibal", as the word is spoken in the song.

So, I listen to the first one I mentioned (which is awesome). A few minutes ago, I was reading Static-X lyrics and found the correct title of the song is "Goat".

My point: "Cannibal" and "Goat" are DIFFERENT songs.

Reason for rant: I hate it when some freak adds a song to the site and gives the wrong title. Trust me, this isn't the only time I've seen this.

Ah, I like Static-X. "Kill Your Idols" rocks.

Anyway, I have something.

Lately, I find it annoying when people in advertisements think people will get what they're saying if they recite a poem.

Like this (memorized because I see it several times a day, every day):

You want to keep warm when you're feeling chilled
But you don't want to raise your heating bill
Blankets are okay, but they can slip and slide
And when you need to reach for something, your hands are trapped inside

Which leads to the description of a stupid item that solves this "problem"

You know what I do when I'm cold? I wear warmer clothes, or layers. Wool and fleece are nice. What if my feet get cold? I wear these things called "shoes" with "socks" underneath. What a concept.
