Last Friday Utah Valley University had a fund raising event. The funds weren't for themselves, but for someone they were calling The Provo Survivor. This was a UVU student who was attacked by a rapist last summer, beaten within an inch of her life, and left in the trees to die. She managed to crawl to where she could be seen and was eventually found by passers-by. IIRC, her attacker has been caught. She is recovering well, but now has something like $200,000 in medical bills.

The professor putting on the fund raiser brought in one of the area's finest heavy metal bands to headline. Last month he saw the band I'm in, came to us after the show, and practically begged us to come and be the opening act. He didn't have to twist our arms a lot. We had a great time. Some 17 year-old there said we sounded "exactly like the radio".

I should have some pics from the event later this week. For now all I have is the poster.
