Just asking; Does being in the military and taken as a POW actually make you more patriotic and a more suitable presidential leader than anyone else?
Let me ask you this question.
Would you die for your country to protect other people's freedoms?
First of all, that was a great, welcome answer to my question. As long as it's not seen as vulgar coming from a civilian, I salute you (I must look insane to anyone around me and my PC.)
Would I willingly give my life for the freedom of others. Wow. Heaviest question I have ever been asked. As a person who considers himself mostly good, my gut-reaction is to type YES with several exclamation points. But as a person who is mostly honest (c'mon, just a few little things, really), I can't immediately respond in the affirmative. I guess I'll take this one for all of us who would hesitate with such a daunting prospect as to not live, cease to exist, "bleeding demise", become a non-breather so that others may live and live freely. Tough one to contemplate, let alone answer honestly and not make everyone think you are selfish, a coward, uncaring, unpatriotic (and several other uns.)
I don't know.
I do not wish to kill or be killed. I am not afraid of death, but perhaps frightened of not being able to live.

not vulgar at all.

just returning the favor for all the education you guys provide me..
I had something else rolling around in my little brain.. wanted to share.
America talks about how proud they are of are kids fighting in Iraq and elsewhere and we say "Thank you for keeping us free"
but we also say the war in Iraq is immoral and we should not be there.
We say thank you for keeping us free then we say we should not be there. That does not sound right to me. any thoughts.. or am I rambling?

I do have a thought.
Thanks is due (and more) when ye are keeping us free. If what we thought to be a "Save Our Freedom And Lives" mission turns out to be a horrible mistake, then thank ye for following orders in direct opposition to what ye may see as truth, justice and the American way.
Thank you for being more brave than I.

I hope eventully, sooner rather than later it isn't a mistake. Lets face it, it was more of a strategic move regarding democracy than any thing else. I have to believe that as so many other people around the world are in such dire straights. However as long as we stay the course and don't let the fantics get another strangle hole on the people, things "hopefully" will turn out well.

Agreed, 100%. A long-term strategic move. (or maybe "strategery" in this case)
My hopes are that, though it has been painful, history will prove it was a smart move for us to establish a presence of democracy on both sides of Iran.
Whoa, Me! Did you and I just agree on something other than Rush?

Awesome!
