you race you overtake and you get blasted for it.....the overtaking manouvre was on the highlights at night and it didn't look that dangerous to me, he's there to race ppl tend to forget that nowadays.......and how come I dont hear anyone going on about Alonso twice missing the chicane completely! The 2nd time was atrocious as he actually swerved back away from the chicane instead of keeping the way he was going.

And as for the yellow line Schuey's tyre was not completely over and the rule is the whole tyre has to be over the yellow line.

I didn't see the highlights. But the point is, he was strongly criticised by the two people least likely to do so: his brother and his team-mate.

And the criticism was not that he overtook them (or tried to, in Ralf's case), but in the foolishly dangerous way he went about it.

I seem to recall the commentators talking about nothing else from the first incident till a few minutes after the second.

He wasn't penalised for two reasons: one, Webber did the same thing; and two, he lost the position. If Webber had successfully gone around the chicane, and Alonso held position in front as a result, he would have gotten a drive-through.

In the year (the very race, iirc) the rule was introduced, Ralf was penalised for an infringement no different from Michael's last weekend.

I'm not going to dwell on monaco as I haven't been here and now we've had the european race....and what a race it was!!!....poor Kimi (that was sarcastic comment btw )...but I will say I was glad to hear Blundell and Brundle say that they dont understand why Rubens and Ralf got so upset as it just showed that they were 'napping' at the end of the race and Schuey wasn't....and if it was such a dangerous manouvre then they two ..especially Brundle would have said so.......like I always thought it was just sour grapes with Rubens and Ralf

I can't see it being mere sour grapes on Ralf's part, 'cos Michael did not succeed in his silly overtaking attempt.

And why would it be sour grapes from Rubens, given the number of times he's let Michael past?


Shame about Kimi (not sarcasm!), but you could see it coming. Makes you wonder why his team didn't, but hey.

Interesting that from what was supposed to be their best chance of the season to win a race, Ferrari were so crap. Michael made up 5 places from grid to finish - and three of those were due to people in front retiring. And notable also that he was unable to pass DC, who'd overtaken him at the first corner.

it's still funny how they are the only two complaining about it...

and emmm everyone apart from one car passed Schuey at the first corner...

I thought that McLaren should have brought Kimi in for a tyre change as well....in fact I'm amazed that he lasted that long!

And yep Ferrari are still crap but like every team....even probably Minardi, they have to go out with the attitude that they're gonna do well and maybe even win the race.
What I dont understand is why they dont change to Michellin, at least then they would be more on an even keel with everyone else...

Dunno what Mosley and the FIA are calling in the lawyers for. They are the ones who refused any of the several workable solutions. What did they want? Fourteen cars crashing out in the same place, only a lap or two apart? That's what would have happened.
