That exact same thing happened to me playing football on asphalt when I was a wee lad.!!!!!

he's back at school and even went to his footy training last night

Actually, it's the best tooth I have now! I had a root canal, so it's black and ugly. Could of had it capped, but my brother had a ton of trouble with his caps, so I opted to leave it alone. Ever couple years my dentist throws some filler on it and hones it to a nice sharp edge.
Aside from the looks (which I don't lend to much anyway) it is doing just fine. Been this way about 32 years.
