I didn't think I was going to respond to this, but after posting it kept niggling in my mind. What is wrong with it?
*remembers the pain felt by the little girl standing in her living room looking at her mother and another woman crashed out on the floor after a night of girl on girl action, thinking of how she wanted her dad*

You don't need to leave the thread, I just know what it feels like to live in such a home. And, yeah, it was easier when she was with a guy. A lot easier. It was totally different. When she was with a guy, except for the ones who weren't nice to me, I was happy to have a man about. When she was with a woman...

I don't think we have, no. It's not widely known, really. lol My mom was with just one person, my step-dad, from 1980 or 1981 to her death and so most people just think she's always been totally straight.

if it means anything, she was not a bad person for it and I am sure she struggled with it... I have a nephew who is gay.. and that does not make him a bad person... I think if everyone looked hard enough, they might find out somebody close to them may be gay... You may not agree with the lifestyle, but you can still love the person.

We are supposed to vote with an eye to what we believe is best for the nation. If one truly believes that homosexuality harms society, well, then that person should vote accordingly, right? Or is this person required to set that belief aside and vote against his conscience?
Good question. The things is, it is our responsibility to see that we keep our freedom and not let the government intrude into our lives. Even if something it is against your
personal beliefs you have to remember that you have to vote for FREEDOM. The same freedom you have to be a strait Christian can be taken away by people who are against that. Even God gives you a choice to screw up or do the right thing, so should we. They can answer to him if they screw up.

Marriage is not a government institution... it is a religious institution. It has been around a lot longer than central governments have. Government has no business redefining it.
Secondly, gay marriage is an issue on which our Constitution is silent. Thus, according to the tenth ammendment, it is up to the individual states whether or not they recognize it. The people of California have voted on this issue twice with the same result.
The people have spoken. The debate should be over.

I don't agree that in all cases we ought have freedom.

My mother didn't have an easy life and fought with her "demons" in so many areas of her life all her life . But she did overcome many and she lived her life loving others as best she could. No, I don't see her as a bad person.
And, having been raised amongst the gay community in Los Angeles, I do disagree with the lifestyle but love the people. Many of them have contributed greatly in making me who I am.

Sadly Zed, though you clown, many do give the double standard to homosexuality like that. Nothing worse than a hypocrite eh?
Zed didn't say anything, Soup did. And I'm sure he feels like crap enough for it.

I am ok about it.. in fact my opinion is that I could care less what other people do, I have enough to worry about keeping myself out of hot water.. if two people of the same sex love each other and they make each other happy, who am I to tell them any different? and for that matter, who has the right to tell another person what to do as long as their actions don't impede somebody else's right to the pursuit of happiness. and as far as parenting, straight or not, if they are good parents.. I have seen a lot of straight couples who have no business having kids. This world has bigger problems than same sex marriages..
and I just threw the other in, lesbian porn, at an attempt to lighten the mood with some humor.. sometimes I miss the mark.. but I gotta be me!! Sorry to all I offended..

It was a religious institution now its both (you know how you go to court to ged a marriage license)...and the thing is, if gays want to get married, the government shouldn't intrude into their lives and say that they can't. They have just as much right to live their lives as do the rest of us. Your church can still not recognize their marriage...or marry them there.
