No, really, I'm glad I was able to learn from those kinds of "mistakes." It sounds odd, but it helped to shape me in a way that I don't dislike

Well... my dad learned lessons from his alcoholic father too. It's good when kids can spot a bad example for what it is, but I still don't wish it on any of them.

It wasn't the material that made me think of the scene I envisioned. Just... certain things from that age of my childhood evoke other memories from the same period.
