Wow... it's been two months already. We did it again tonight. And we had a blast. Our opening set list was:
? Walk, Don't Run
? Hound Dog
? Proud Mary
? Lasagna
? Cheesecake Blues
? Brown-eyed Girl
? No Blues
? Suntanned Women
? Blue Suede Shoes
No keyboard songs tonight. Didn't even bring one. When we go back in two months I plan to put together a set in which I play pretty much nothing but keys (scary). Just trying to keep some variety so they don't get sick of us.
Three of my nephews came tonight... one from Oregon, one from Florida, and my borther's son. They brought girls. Two of them performed. One of them pretty much stole the show.
A guy in the crowd took a few sound-check pics of us. I gave him an e-mail address... hopefully he will share and I can share with you.
Anyway, gotta get to bed... up too late.

Sounds like fun was had by all! Cool Elf!
BTW- Songs about food RULE.
Does Rush mention food in any of their songs besides honeydew
in "Xanadu"? I'm kinda stumped on that one...
As silly as they are, you would think yes...
Hey - that would be a good thread!
Anyway, that's a cool post Elf. Good times!

Well... tonight was kind of an off night for us. But I don't blame us. Like last year, tonight we played at the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event. Last year it was absolutely scorching hot. But today it was cool and windy. We had a nice one-hour set.
? Twist and Shout
? Gettin' Older
? Brown-eyed Girl
? Lasagna
? Oh Pretty Woman
? Hound Dog
? Green Onions
? Wooly Bully
? Proud Mary
? Cheesecake Blues
? I'm a Believer
? Surfin? USA
? Istanbul
? Walk, Don't Run
? Rusty Old Blue Truck
? Everybody?s Tryin?
? Johnny B. Goode
But the soundman... well... he really didn't seem to understand his gear very well. It was a real battle for him just get a mic working, and then get it through a monitor. We thought everything had finally been settled at sound check. But by the time we went on, it was like we were starting from scratch. Instruments and vocals would be there, be gone, be back, burst into feedback, vanish again... all though the set. We're not pro enough to play well with that stuff going on. So, we didn't play quite as well as we usually do. Not to mention the audience had to listen to instruments and vocals that would be there, be gone, be back, burst into feedback, vanish again, etc.
But, we had fun just the same. And we got compliments. And my daughter took a couple of pics from far away...

We have the Relay for Life here this weekend, too. I wonder if they will have a live band? The Relay for Life is at the same place where Dovey is playing a softball game this morning. Prolly won't have as fun a band, though, if they have one.
Bummer about the sound guy, Elf. You sound like you aren't taking it too much to heart, though.

There were three acts last night. Us, followed by a very talented guy who played piano and sang jazz (great voice, but not a particularly gripping act), and they finished off with a Kiss cover band (make up and everything).
When I got home later there was an e-mail from our drummer that said, "I just got text saying that the Kiss band was really bad."
So, I guess we were still the most fun they had that evening.

Cool, Matt! Except for the "unsound" man it sounds like a very good time.
Kiss tribute band, indeed. Apart from being crappy, this kind of band sounds inappropriate for this kind of setting. Maybe they should have been the warm-up, jazz guy next and MLC to bring it home. At least by then the engineer may have gotten his act together.
Thanks for the great pics!

We almost bailed on our drummer when he was really late this week, we'd been there 2 hours were hot and gross, he showed up I wanted to pack and go as he did.Walkinghairball wrote: We left him standing in the streets of Sandpoint Idaho with his gear all over the parking lot with NO PAY.
Funny times back then.
Terrible thing with that sound guy elf, seems these sound folks need to turn down the suck.
