Oil is what lubricates the gears of democracy. When oil prices go up, it affects everything else.

Well, with diesel so expensive, it is not surprise the food prices are rising, and other prices as well.

But my food budget doesn't like it! LOL

We gotta cut back demand - plain and simple.

I look for the Fed to drop the national speed limit back down to 55.

On a lighter note, I found out that if I do the speed limit to and from
work, I can make it all week on a tank of gas. Suh-WEET.

The Department of Transportation said figures from March show the steepest decrease in driving ever recorded.

Compared with March a year earlier, Americans drove an estimated 4.3 percent less -- that's 11 billion fewer miles, the DOT's Federal Highway Administration said Monday, calling it "the sharpest yearly drop for any month in FHWA history." Records have been kept since 1942.

Well evidently, DoT doesn't use the BELTWAY much.

DC is #4 in gridlock in the U.S.

SHOW ME THE DECREASE!

Seriously, I can agree with that, but the numbers don't reflect a drop
in prices - even though demand is down. So...

The suggestion of reducing demand doesn't even seem valid now, but
the folks aren't being serious about it. We could do a lot better.

Evidently, fuel hasn't gotten expensive enough for many to cut down
on frivolous consumption. It sure has where I live. :???:

Especially when I see people still hauling ass down the interstate...
they must have money to burn...no pun intended. :-D

I've cut back a little (probably about 4% like they said). I can imagine lots of people have. But I just can't stop driving to work.

I need to get my bike tuned up and start pedaling to work. It's an 8 minute drive, all pretty much back streets, so prolly 15 on a bike tops.
