The great state of Oregon allows fireworks, as long as they don't shoot up in the sky. We had a pretty nice display on my driveway tonight!

We had a blast celebrating. But we weren't celebrating the removal of our people from our lands or the murder of our families. We were celebrating the founding of a nation we are citizens of (and have been since 02 June, 1924).

The people who live on the rez (reservation) a mile from our house have been celebrating for weeks with fireworks and usually keep it up for a few weeks after.

Interestingly, the one ethnic group that PROUDLY signs up to fight wars for the US of A more than any other per capita is the American Indian.

Some of us complain about white man and his opression and mean it. Some of us ged on with our lives (but we do make jokes about how bad you all are toward us, cuz we can!).

I'll never understand the Scots, Welsh and Irish either.

If that were all of it, just the stealing of our land, then it wouldn't make sense.

But there is so much more that has been done for us.

Our way of life has changed, but so much good has come. For instance, without the white man's medicine, I would have died just after birth. There are many other good things that have come too.

And, truly, the whites alive now are not the ones that were wicked to us then.

Also, we are now CITIZENS of this nation. And we have never been ones to shirk our duty to our nation.

Its just a shame that all the others who hold a grudge against the whites and/or English don't feel that way. I'm sick of being branded a bigot because I'm white and people trying to stop me taking pride in my nation because I'm English.

That always works. Too bad they owe us badly for WWI and WWII, yet they still refuse to help us in a time of war. Of course though we're better off without them due to the fact that they haven't won a war by themselves in over 200 years...

I think that the reverse discrimination that you are receiving is just as bad as the "original" discrimination. Discrimination is discrimination.
