Oi Mensch! Read...now that I'm working on my certificate to teach hs English, that's all I'm doing now.
I'm re-reading
House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, then I will read Kate Chopin's
The Awakening for my young adult lit. class, as well as reading a bunch o' stuff for my social foundations of education class and my educational psychology class, as well as my advanced composition class. As well as trying to squeeze in an introduction to African music.
As far as poetry goes, I've been re-reading some Gary Soto, as well as Chinese poetry...stuff from the Ming Dynasty and after. I really enjoy Chinese, Japanese, and Korean poetry.

Okay, KaelMwithlotsofreadingtodo, how about a poetry recommendation from one of the cultures you mentioned. I haven't read any of theirs in a looooong time, and might give it a shot if our library has some.
