Goodbye to Road Kill
Last night about 1am I got a call from my godmother who lives across the driveway. She said our cat, Road Kill, had been in a fight and was dying.
I went outside and he was already dead. I had to search to find any blood. His neck was broken. I think he got it by a Lynx or Bobcat from the fur we found this morning that was not his.
Neither Eagle or Dusti remember life without him. He was Maine Coon and such a lover. When the kids would do their school outside on the deck, he would lie on the bottom bunk with them and cuddle. He'd play on the trampoline with them. And, he was always interested in being held and loved.
You've seen these before, but one more time:

Thanks. He was a good kitty. At least I know he had a good life. The last time I saw him alive I stopped and watched as he slept on the bottom bunk on our deck. So peaceful and pretty I just had to watch and thank G-d for him.
I was praying about his death and I remembered a passage in the Bible where Jesus says that G-d even sees the birds that die and He mentions how much more important humans are to G-d than the birds.
I cried a bit thinking that G-d saw Road Kill die and that He knew how it would hurt us, Road Kill's humans, and how He did cares even about the pain of losing a pet.

I'm so, so sorry to hear of the loss of Roadkill, t.
My best friend always wanted a Maine Coon. I was proud to tell her that I knew someone how owned one (or rather that the cat owned THEM a course )
I love all the creatures here and am so sad to see one so tragically lost but the love that was there is what's important. Roadkill made yours and your children's lives so much more enriched.

Freeze this moment a little bit longer...
