Disaster after disaster
Another disaster this year for us here. We needed a new roof, after a few yrs we finally got some money from the insuance to repair it. Well all we could afford was supplies, labor we having to do ourselves. We had 7 guys slated to help yesterday, hubby & a friend started a day early & stripped it all. Well 1 guy never showed, another was very late, & 1 was lazy & didnt do much. So there were really only 3 guys doing hard work, my son did what he could, but he is only 18 & has never done this stuff before. He also put his foot through the ceiling to, i knew someone was going to do it, he was the likliest candidate. So we got shingles up on only about 1/4 of the house, lightning began showing up, i went out & bought a bunch of tarps. Could not get enough tarps, rain came pouring into our bedroom, ontop of our bed etc. We began moving stuff out & throwing it into the kitchen & livingroom. Our room is the only room with carpet to, just our luck, luckily the livingroom is big enough to hold a queen size bed. It also began leaking in the normal areas of course, & the lovly hole my sons foot put there. Drying out the carpet right now with a fan, all we can do, the ceilings are in terrible shape. My husband & a friend from work both took off today to try & get it finished, more rain is expected tomorrow. So any annonymous people out there that live close to Rogers AR are welcome to come help shingle our roof LOL. Oh & i have not looked inside yet, but my new Rush collection chest got wet!!!

I'm sorry that you've got such a mess there. I hope it will dry out soon.
Stay safe and be careful. Maybe you could try to get on the local news or radio station to send out an S.O.S. for some extra helpers.
It worked on Extreme Home Makeover in Hawaii. They got
2 busloads of volunteers to come and help finish the house.

sorry about the misfortune LB.
and not to sound clueless, but why can't you just call
the insurance folks back?
Is it not covered?
It shoulda been okay if they had gotten the felt paper down on
the whole roof before shingling...anyway, it sucks and I'm sorry it happened to ya.

The felt did not stop anything, had to replace what was there the next day. They got the back half finished yesterday, it will be raining today sometime, we will see how our room holds. The other half, which is where i am sitting right now, has tar paper & tarps. It is very windy today, so its blowing around a bit, i think we will be getting wet again. The Rush collection stayed dry, so that is good. Our bed is still in the living room though, the carpet is not dry yet & we want to see if it holds up first. least my Pneumonia is going away ok, even after that aweful wet night.
