Food Network borrowing from RUSH?
Hey gang,
Being a "foodie"(and fatty, lol) I occasionally watch Food network and just love any show with Alton Brown.
When I watched his latest, Feasting on Asphalt, I could have sworn I heard some Rush influence on some of the segments that follow them just coming out of a commercial. It sounded an awful lot like Analog Kid to me (not Rush playing but a version none the less), so I finally went to check it out online to see if Rush had any credits for this. I thought it just had to be since this whole show is him and a few others riding around on motorcycles (his a BMW), and checking out local food up the mighty Mississippi.
This is what I found, and it was interesting to see that I wasn't the only one who heard the similarity.

Watch the show in reruns if you have the chance and see what you think.

I'm in motion.
I am still.
I am crying.
I am still.
I'm together.
I'm apart.
I'm forever.
At the start.
Still... I am.
I am still.
I am crying.

I'm forever.
At the start.
Still... I am.

I have culled some recipes from the shows on Food Network, but none from that one in particular.
The funny thing is that even though the song sounds so much like it, the writer says he was influenced by something else. He has a quote on the website link I posted.

By some uncalculated accident I did happen to watch
"Feasting on Asphalt" . There is a riff that sounds like
a bit like "AK" just played slightly different.
There are more similarities though, these foodies
are traveling on red, yellow and black BMW motorcycles
and I think I spotted a cap in the style that Neil Peart wears.
Hmmm, cool show for Food network. I like it.

I was watching FOA last night and THOUGHT I heard a Rush riff but thought I was imagining it because of the whole "motorcycle" thing.
Food Network became my companion (not the food...the SHOWS lol) when I was home sick with pneumonia for weeks last year. I got more recipes off there (healthy and the fun ones too) and now know the history of everything from hot dogs to jelly beans whether I want to or not!

Freeze this moment a little bit longer...
