My Friday the 13th
Since pictures are worth a thousand words, I'll let these speak for themselves. This is what we discovered this morning:
Todd's truck window:
Empty space where my van was supposed to be:
They smashed Todd's truck window, found the extra key to my van that he had under his seat, and took my van.
Gee, I wonder what fun tomorrow will bring?

I think it's because the key they got for the truck only unlocks the doors--it won't start the ignition.Soup4Rush wrote:thats fugged up wonder why they took the van and left the truck.
Insurance is paying for most of the rental car right now. Unfortunately, if they don't find the van or it isn't repairable if they do find it, I don't think the insurance company will pay what we owe on it. We'll end up stuck paying a couple thousand bucks on a car somebody else is driving.zepboy wrote:whudda kick in the gut! I'm really sorry to hear this. Hope they catch the scum.
Insurance gonna take care of things?
Thanks, schu!schuette wrote:awww shit Pan...I'm really sorry to hear that
Thanks--I do too! Ya think they'll let me whack 'em with a stick?Me wrote:sorry Pan,

It really does feel like a violation, and coming so soon after a student stole my cell phone, it's really a blow to my psyche. Um, it can only get better from here?Kares4Rush wrote:Oh Pan!!! How AWFUL!!!
It's like a physical assault on your person. People who do these things don't know what it DOES to people!!!
I hope they catch the heartless, selfish punks!!!!
I'm sorry, Ogg! Did you ever get it back?Ogg wrote:That is a pisser Pan'. I've had the same done to me...the sods. Karma.
Thanks to all for your support. It really sucks to be without my van, but I'm trying to remember that it could be worse. At least nobody is hurt and I have something to drive. This week is tie-dye lab for my students and another teacher's, so I've had to cram materials for 361 shirts into a Dodge Stratus. I'll have to post pics!

I really feel for you Pan, sincerely so. I had a car stolen many years ago and it was eventually found burnt out. That's long gone but I do know how you must be feeling.
Late last year my eldest Daughter had some imbecile in a 4x4 shunt the rear of her car when Tabs was signalling to turn, obviously the idiot was not paying attention. Tabs was shaken and the car a write-off.
Tabs had a (then) new car that we contributed half to, the rest she had to pay via a monthly hp agreement and she did for over two years. When the legal issues were settled Tabs was left with enough to pay off the remainder of her hire purchase...and thats it!
Apart from a hire car for two weeks she was left with nothing. What a system.
You have my sympathy.

That sucks Pan, I remember about 10 years ago I had a really nice z24 convertible. I came out of work one night and it was gone. I walked all around the building thinking maybe I parked somewhere else. The police found it, sitting in the middle of an intersection, engine running doors open. I was glad to have it back, but I felt a sense of violation.
Happy 2015!

That's the thing, right there.Soup4Rush wrote: I was glad to have it back, but I felt a sense of violation.
Though I've never had a car stolen, I have had windows smashed out of them. Worse was when my home was broken into and burgled. There's just this sick feeling inside. Everything personal has been violated. The safe "home" feeling is gone. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, Pan.
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?
you're lucky Bro. That was just a joyride.Soup4Rush wrote:That sucks Pan, I remember about 10 years ago I had a really nice z24 convertible. I came out of work one night and it was gone.
