I hope you will forgive me this but I'm bursting with so much pride I've got to let it out some how. You see, a couple of days ago, my 4 year old son James
Image

brought home his first report from Nursery with the following comments:

AREAS OF EARLY LEARNING GOALS WHERE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS HAS BEEN ATTAINED

James has made significant progress in all six areas of learning and is a capable and intelligent little boy.

He has an extensive vocabulary and uses it to good effect! He has an excellent memory and can answer in depth questions about a story or concept.

James has a very sound sense of number and his mathematical skills are developing nicely.

James takes a pride in his work and creates beautiful constructions and models which he is very protective of!

GENERAL COMMENTS

James is a very independent little boy with strong opinions; it has taken him a while to learn how to share and take turns but he can do this effectively now and genuinely has tried very hard to consider others

James has a great deal of natural ability and has learned many things quickly and easily. Recent challenges have shown him the need for perseverence and, to his credit, he has really applied himself and tried very hard with his reading, writing and drawing.

Well done James - keep it up! :)

FUTURE TARGETS WITHIN THE FOUNDATION STAGE

*To think and not vocalise thoughts! This is a very real problem for James and one he has to learn how to control.

*To continue his excellent start to reading

*To write his name in full, including Annison, with correct formation and appropriate letter size.

*To order numbers to 10 and know their value

*To continue to show his natural exuberence and delight in learn new things!

I wish I could say how proud of him I am but its beyond my capability - especially that last line.

That's not always true................ WE share the "guilt & triumphs" in our house. Scooter has just "graduated" kindergarten top of her class, and she is/was one of the youngest kids in her class. When we work with our children great things happen.

BTW Slaine................ Kudo's to the kiddo.
