Some sad news today.
Apparently Tommy Vance, for so many years the voice of the Friday Rock Show and host of the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donnington, has died.
RIP Tommy (Rock in peace)

There's a big thread about this also at TNMS.
He was such a great guy and I used to watch his Friday Rock Show on VH1 quite a lot.
He was the ultimate ROCK DJ.
I was also told earlier today that he made an appearance at Rush's first UK R30 show at Wembley in London.
I would have loved to have met him.

'The Friday Rock Show' was an integral part of my teenage years, be it listening via headphones (10pm-midnight) to escape my Mothers wrath for being up so late or enjoying a mad sing along post pub during my latter years, we are talking good old fashioned 'Radio' here.
I fondly remember the interviews with sneak previews of album releases (this was before the net you know), Iron Maiden springs to mind and paticulary a Jethro Tull track that Bruce Dickinson played. I once attempted to stay up to record a two hour Status Quo concert (attended by Prince Charles) with two C60 cassettes, I remember falling asleep and missing the last half hour, lol, how long ago was that? The Phil Lynott tribute springs to mind as does my first listen to Van Halen's 'Eruption'...
Tommy Vance RIP.
