First off, the cell phone goes bye bye. Then I look for other "niceties" that
can be done away with, like cable movie channels and HIGH SPEED
INTERNET, (hardwired) home phone features like call waiting, etc.

(In other words, pay for what you NEED, not what you WANT.)

If that isn't enough, then comes the time to look for a second (or
diversified) income. We all are good at more than one thing...

Why not get paid for it?

If that is still short, I'd ask my creditors for a break and just pay
interest on my accounts until I get back in the game.

(I'll bet you didn't know you could do that, do ya?)

Fact is, most of these "Credit Help" outfits do exactly just that.

They call your creditors and ask for extensions and interest-only
payments until you can pay the principal again. Sure, it turns back the
repay clock, but it also keeps your credit rating intact, and good credit is
EVERYTHING.

If I were to sum up what you just said into three words they would be, "Cut your spending".

Everybody instinctively knows this.

So why do Pelosi, Bush, Reid, and Obama seem to think that the best thing to do now is to borrow and spend and borrow and spend like the governent has never borrowed and spent before? The printing of US currency is up 70%. Our defecit will be way over a trillion dollars this year and the president elect says that's going to continue for years to come.

I've been staying out of political discussions but this is not a partisan discussion. I can't see any thinking person of any party disagreeing with "cut your spending when the money is tight". This shouldn't turn into me arguing with my friends.

It would seem that the leadership of both parties are hellbent on turning this recession into a huge depression by doing the exact opposite of what needs to be done.

What's going on?

Aaaaaand, how is it that this logic is so clear, almost "duh" to you and me, and seems to be lost on those who it should be second nature to?
I still remain confident and hopeful, but this does seem to be a Bizarro World solution.

I thought that long list of questions Obama had them all filling out was supposed to keep this scandal season from happening.

No, actually it was the Big O could remove himself from the scandal in the future when things are exposed (and they will be).
