Sig, your avatar is creepy.. It looks like a reverse money shot..
Now just a second...."refundable tax rebate"? From someone who owes no taxes? I guess we could say the money they took from my check that they will give back is the refundable part? And the money over and above that which they give is the rebate?if you're paying no income tax now...and you're given a refundable tax rebate, you go from paying NO taxes to actually GETTING money that, in fact, is a tax cut
Earlier this week, the Secret Service looked into the case of a sign posted on a tree in Vay, Idaho, with Obama's name and the offer of a "free public hanging." In North Carolina, civil rights officials complained of threatening racist graffiti targeting Obama found in a tunnel near the North Carolina State University campus.
And in a Maine convenience store, an Associated Press reporter saw a sign inviting customers to join a betting pool on when Obama might fall victim to an assassin. The sign solicited $1 entries into "The Osama Obama Shotgun Pool."
I talk to you on this program and I bring you the problems, but I want to bring you solutions today. I want to bring you something that you can actually do, something that will make a difference, but I want to frame it -- I want to frame it with this story. It happened to me at Wendy's Saturday night. We are on the bus and we stop to get fuel and I said, I'm going to go in, I'm treating. Everybody wants a Frosty. I'm going to go get Frosties. And one of the security guys, said, No, you're not. I said, Yeah, I am. I mean, it's a truck stop. How much trouble am I going to get in in a truck stop? Everybody here you can trust. You're not going in. I went in, but I had to bring the swat team with me and so I'm just, I just want to Frosty, please, the guy standing next to me, who, by the way, I may point out. Had food in his hair, is a truck driver and he turned around. He looked at me and the recognition was immediate and he said, You racist bigot! And I just said -- I wanted to say, I think you have me mistaken for someone else, but I knew he knew who I was and he just hated me for who I was. You conservatives that have destroyed this country! And the hatred was so deep, it was breath taking. Luckily the swat team was there and I just separated myself from him and he just shouted through other people and there were children in the restaurant and he blamed me for everything, I believe including the Holocaust, and the hatred was palpable. The guy screamed at the restaurant, you better not let me see you in the parking lot because I've got a truck and I'll run your ass over! Wow. Is this who we've become? Is this who we've become?
I could stand in line with Michael Moore and I wouldn't say that to him. I would say some things to Michael Moore, but it wouldn't be that. Is this who we've become? I believe there is a caldron of hatred on both sides, but the left is quite frightening. The extreme right is frightening, as well. I don't care if you're a Republican, Democrat, or independent. I don't care who you voted for. We cannot become that person. No matter how passionate -- it took everything in me, it took everything in me not to say anything to him. I mean, I was just is a -- I was feeling the rage inside of me and, quite honestly, I prayed it away. "New, from God, it's prayaway." Bing! Because I was enraged we've got to disconnect from that and we have to try -- and that's why I said to you the day after Obama was elected, please, let's treat the man the way we wanted the left to treat George Bush and, that is, with a healthy dose of skepticism but let's talk about his policies. Let's not just hate him. He hasn't done anything yet. Even if he does do it, I disagree with his policies, I may disagree with some of his principles. I don't know yet. Let's see what he does and let's not hate.
The difference is the outside world isn't near so important as within.Big Blue Owl wrote:I don't think that this admin will have difficulty being taken seriously by the outside world. After the Bush gang I'm sure we could have a cabinet of hypo-allergenic poodles running things and be taken more seriously than them.![]()
No, it seems that their difficulties will unfortunately come from within, where most citizens that opposed him have an erroneous wall of fear and doubt built up. I don't get it, but that's okay. I'm on their (our) side and will do what I can to assist in the clean-up and repairs.
