I can ged this back on topic and still talk about food.
One of the things "they" hate us for is our abundance. Our choices. The sheer amount of goods we have available, and often own.
I mean, have you ever stopped by the cracker aisle in a store? All the myriad of choices! We go in and think nothing of having literally scores of different crackers. You can have them low in sodium or organic or with cheese from a certain state. You can have them in all kinds of flavours. You can have them in various shapes, even looking like wee fish with smiles! You can even have the exact same cracker as some big name brand, but packaged in a plainer box with the store name on it.

I feel upset that some of the people that are supposed to be "friends" are also throwing-us-under-the-bus-holding-an-infant too...

Siggs, I am with you on this one. I don't like those in our own nation who are mad because some people are rich and they aren't. Heck! It isn't just the rich they want the monies from, but anyone who has more than they do.CygnusX1 wrote:well put t!!

I tire of people saying that their cigarettes, their lottery tickets, their internet, their cable TV, their caller ID, their cell phone are all NEEDS and that I should pay for them to have it when they are not willing to go out and get a job. Don't get me wrong and think that I don't think anyone should get assistance. I am talking about the ones who make it a lifestyle and pass that lifestyle on to their children.

THAT is what I am talking about. That is something I won't sit still for in my family. My family have been poor and we have been kicked about even to the point of being removed from our farms by American military with guns because Andrew Jackson wanted our property, but we aren't going to sit around and be victims all our lives and demand that others provide everything for us.

My family, also of Irish descent, had to work in the coal mines of WV to make it, along with Italians, Americans of African descent (African American is the exact OPPOSITE folks), Slavs and other nationalities....

I suspect lots of us have stories of ancestors who had to work hard to overcome adversity. Throughout the early to mid 1800's some of mine mine were driven further and further west (many of them pushing handcarts) by mobs who would burn down their homes and businesses, wathing their husbands tarred and feathered (or killed), their wives and daughters raped, etc. The governor of Illinois even issued an extermination order against them. They finally settled in a valley where Jim Bridger said he'd give $50 to any man who could grow an ear of corn, it was so desloate.
With no government assistance (the opposite, actually) and by working harder than a lazy slob like me can fathom they built irrigation systems, then farms, homes, churches, businesses, etc. They took care of each other without government assistance. Once there was actually food to be had they made sure no widows or children starved. And those same widows and children did all they could to contribute to the community. I really need to learn to follow their example better.

Notice that the exam took FIVE HOURS to complete.
Gives the saying "he only had an 8th grade education" a whole new meaning, doesn't it?!
It also shows you how poor our education system has become... and, NO! I don't have the answers, for I failed this 8th grade test!!
