I have just (this very seccond!) found two songs from the new album (!) The title track, that I'm playing the now and 'Sleep Together'...which I'll be playing shortly
.
The title track begins with the sound of a mobile-phone being used, an acoustic led intro begins before a rather straight ahead up-tempo drum pattern takes over, "sunlight passing through the haze" barks SW before the infectious chorus begins, although it does begin to meander around the five minute mark, finally slowing down at the end only to up the anti then fade away once more. Interesting.
'Sleep Together' begins with some crazy ass synth sounds that merge into a rhythm of sorts, Steve Wilson's soprano vocal leads the first verse before the rather simple but effective 4x4 drum pattern takes the thing further...same tempo, synth hooks and a tricky bass drum pattern fades before returning again to the initial straight rhythm, 'Lets sleep together right now' wails a distorted SW vocal before we delve into a synth led bridge and pre-chorus that builds and builds into yet more of the same...and finally a climatic finish (ooer).
I've read that the album will have a 'heavier' feel although with this evidence it may not be the case. Roll on the new album
.
ps: Just found a track on the new 'Yoko Ono' album (of all things) entitled 'Death of Samantha' ft Porcupine Tree, PF's 'Animals' type acoustic with more meanderings...shame about the vocals though
.

Oh...My...Ged!
I've just found this:
"Here you have the next Porcupine Tree album, live from Philadelphia. It is a bootleg recording of course, however, the quality is very good, and the band plays amazing (no surprise there).
1. Fear of a Blank Planet (7.28)
2. My Ashes (5.07)
3. Anesthetize (17.42)
4. Sentimental (5.26)
5. Way Out of Here (7.37)
6. Sleep Together (7.28)
Note that the songs in this torrent are sometimes shorter , other times longer than the respective studio versions..."
Must resist...must resist

Well, of course I couldn't but the quality was rather shite anyway. I gave the thing a brief skip through (the seventeen minute 'Anesthetize' being of paticular interest) and deleted it straight after, so unlike me

Nice one Schu...now get off your (no doubt scrummy) ass and sort it out!
.
The preview is also available to download from the same page. I've lost count how many times I've heard it the now. Imho only Rush could rival this.
