After all these years of desire, I now own a California Carved Top!
MOP block inlays, M22SD and C22J pickups, single piece mahogany back! Never had any of these features in a Carvin before. Can't wait to plug her in and try her out!
Now, lest Kyle accuse me of cowbelling, I realize pics are obligatory. Here are a couple of junky pics taken here at work.
I love the natural binding effect of the maple cap on the mahogany!

hard to tell on some carvins, I love how they don't dye their ebony black, it has much more character.

I've only been able to plug her in for a few minutes... and spent some of that time adjusting the bridge height and pickup height. She's definitely a different animal than my other Carvins, with a different pickups than I've ever used before.
So, I still need to do some more playing, adjusting, A - B testing etc.
I already know I'm in love with the feel and playability, though. Professional in every way. I'm sure I'll get the right tone dialed in soon.

I really like this video... the making of a California Carved Top (my new guitar). If you guys have ever watched "How It's Made" it's a lot like that.
And I bet the site hasn't been blocked at Cyg's work either.

Luthiers haven't escaped technology these days either!
I was glad to see some old-school "elbow grease" there towards the end.
I was thinking that the machine was going to do everything!
Thanks for the chance to see how it's done threre.
(makes it even MORE special to hold a new one, doesn't it?)

Hadn't watched that before, hate to think of having to program that robot..
Neat to see how much can be done by the beast too, a leap ahead for luthiers, saves many painstaking hours with less chance of error.
It did how ever make me feel an itching need for aCt after watching it ... boo
. I am sure all itches will be temporary cleared up when I get the c66, wonder if I could write it off as a perscription drug
