First Snow

Our dock ramp is full of snow. there is a piece of the roof hanging in the front of the building too. I think it's just a face piece and not a structural thing.

There is 7 of 14 employees here.

Just trying to warm up a bit right now. Todd took Leon to work. We can't get past the driveway with our truck or the van. Todd has 4x4, so he's getting around a little better than us.

We are in the crosshairs next- due to get 8-10 inches tomorrow afternoon ALONE. The forecasters are beginning to hedge their bets and they are stretching the storm into Saturday and Saturday night now.

I think I heard the news say 20" so far, and it's supposed to let up around 4pm.

Let's see if they get THAT PREDICTION correct.

Oh,and I gave the owner of the lanes where I work a head's up yesterday to get my co-worker John* in the bullpen and ready for me in case I get stuck tomorrow going from job to job.

He just emailed me and told me unless the forecast changes significantly, the lanes are closing early and to assume as of now I have the night off.

(ripping off Cream) - Anyone for Shoveling?

*- John lives a mile away from the lanes and could walk if he really got stuck- I can't walk the 32 miles from job to job

that all? 8-10 in a day? back home a friend and I went home for lunch and when we went back outside snow was up to our knees. (rather unpleasant for pedestrians in jeans at that.)

I took a vacation day from work today in order to finish my Christmas shopping (and get away from work for a day).

The parade of winter storms crossing the country will continue into Hanukkah and Christmas. Each storm will target the Midwest and Northeast after emerging from the West.

Schools are closed here, too. Well, except for ours. My kids had their snow day Monday and I am making them work today! mwahahahahaha!

I got out and took some pics and if any are good, I'll post. Nothing like the hammering some of us got! lol Just a nice couple of inches here at my house, although enough to shut down much of town and close part of the 101, I hear. (We get little snow compared to the rest of the town and 101, so it must be deeper out there.)

Got to drive home from work last night in the snow. It's about 30 miles or so. It was so much fun because it was so beautiful! I was thinking how my mom would have loved it. She dug nature and the natural art all around us and never minded taking our time or getting lost on a road trip. I just took it easy and plodded along with the other traffic and gawked at this tree and the way the subdued light shone on that spot and how the snowflakes were whirling and twisting and dancing.

Ok. I promised pix. So here we go.........

This one is the vehicles in the driveway looking from the front porch.
The snow on top of our van is what fell between 6:30pm last night and about 9 am today. The neighbors truck, in the background, hasn't moved since sometime yesterday.

This is our picnic table. Last night you could still tell where the top was and the seats were. Now it all looks like one big SNOWHILL.
The top of the table has not had any additional snow put on it from shoveling.

This is me standing at the driveway walking back into the front yard.

The snow is soooooooo deep we had to dig out a place for the dogs to do their business.....
Leon is standing in the area we dug out.

Believe it or not, there are three vehicles under this mess of snow. Can you see them?

Here is one of the neighbors snowblowing the snow.

And this stuff is STILL falling from the sky.

Wow! I sat at that table this past May, but I wouldn't today!

That's some snow! Whew!
