Reading your reply shows that I was unclear about RJD trying to replace Ozzy. I was so wrapped up in Oz Sabs at school that when RJD became the new frontman, I automatically put up a sort of barrier to him.awip2062 wrote:I don't think Ronnie considered himself a replacement for John; just the new singer for Sabbath. I never thought of Sabbath with John and Sabbath after John as the same thing. I mean, the whole character changed when John left.
As far as Ronnie and John go, Ronnie wrote the song King Of Rock and Roll with John in mind, so whether John respects Ronnie or not, Ronnie does respect John.
As for myself, I respect each man for different reasons.
I didn't mean to imply that RJD felt he was a replacement. I'm sure his intentions were more honourable than that and he wanted to bring a new era to the Sabbath sound. He did a fine job. Mob Rules is still a metal classic in my mind. It's more my frame of mind that caused the "barrier". When Sabbath got back in the original line-up, to me that was one of the greatest moments in rock history. Now it's a nostalgia thing.
Sorry, didn't mean to dis RJD.
But I still think Ozzy's comment was funny.

I'm a prog maniac. I love the 1970s Yes, U.K., Genesis, Starcastle, King Crimson, Renaissance, Pink Floyd, F.M., Crack The Sky, Marillion, etc.etc.
I also love old Chicago, Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Sacovanzetti and Merryl-Lynch (old George Carlin joke) Saga, ABBA, Kiss, etc.etc.
I'm also a Metal freak. King Diamond, Judas, Maiden, Type-o Negative, Soilwork, Manson, Fear Factory, Old Queensryche and Dream theater, Pantera, Yngwie, etc.etc.
There are so many more great bands that I haven't mentioned. Oh well, the memory is the first thing to go.
The all-time favorite is Rush, of course. If I was stranded on an island, they would be all I would need. That and a certain human that will remain nameless.

If memory serves it was Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Merryl, Lynch, Pierce, Sacovanzetti and their song "The Ever-Present Footsteps in the Hallways of the Memories of Your Mind." Something like that. And who could forget The Red-White-and-Blue Outdoor Protestant Blues Band and their hit "Jenny"!Zivo wrote:Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Sacovanzetti and Merryl-Lynch
