It's not just New York... any really big city attracts all of the extremes. They tend to have some of the most influencial businesses, schools, performing arts, etc. But on the flip side... well... you know... 8)

The 'educated' part of the world (like everything outside of Scotland), calls it a dress. It's not our fault the men over there are cross-dressers.

Just tell them:

"Listen, I'm joing a rastafari reggae band and I need dreds."

"What!! NO!!! YOU CAN'T HAVE DREDLOCKS!!!"

"Alright fine, but I need to grow my hair out some, how about I grow it out and keep washing it, deal?"

"Phew!" They'll think they're gedding off easy after that ;)
I remember watching in amazement as Geddy sang, played bass, and played the keyboards with his feet. I thought, "Who is this guy???"

I went through all of that too. It wasn't until my mother was dead before I could grow it long. By then I was so old it didn't last more than a few years... then it got too thin on top to look good long anymore.

Query, how does the knighthood go with 'Scotland Forever' tattooed on his wrists?
