Man...I so wanted to read this of you...

So, with the tables completely turned I demand (with a middle finger!) that everyone turns up to eleven, exclaiming a hearty '**** you!' to the kids in the process and simply began shredding, man I so ripped off their faces...and my shirt in the process and with the spirit of a dark demon possessing us all we ripped into a most aggressive cover of Pantera's 'Mouth For War'! ...kicking over the amps after a mind frying finale and hurling my geetar into the air...missing the catch so in a fit of rage I smashed the ****in thing, my Carvin (!) to pieces and dived head first into the drum kit, emerging bleeding but triumphant! What a great ****** night!

That sounds closer to one of my gigs, but it would have ended with me kicking my cousins ass for knocking over Terry's brand new Gibson doubleneck guitar and amp stack. :-D

Last night's gig was actually this morning's gig. A very different kind of gig for us. An elementary school wanted to reward its students. Pretty much every class scored in the 90th percentile on their end of year standardized reading tests. Very impressive for a school from a low-income section of town where about 60% of the kids are Hispanic.

So, as a part of their reward, the principal brought a rock-n-roll band in to give them a concert. 8)

I had concerns. Could I play and sing at 9:15 in the morning? Never has a show at that hour. We had to be there before 8:15 to unload and set up on time. Would little kids even enjoy an oldies band?

Well... this may have been the most fun I've ever had at a gig. They absolutely LOVED us! They screamed, they clapped in time, they had a blast and so did we. :-D

A teacher wanted to know what one of the songs was after the show. Talking to her I found myself surrounded by tiny kids who wanted high-fives. I've never given so many high-fives in my life.

Then I spent the afternoon working on my evaporative cooler. Not nearly as much fun. But the house isn't as hot now. :)

It's all taken care of now, thanks. :)

But if the motor burns out I'll let you know. :)

All I would need is the info off the motor tag, and the cooler Make, M# and S#. :-)

I agree with Schu, Elf. That's what it's all about. You touched lives.

I dare say that some of those kids will never forget you!

You may be right. I've never forgotten the band that came to my elementary school. And that was sometime around 1973 or 74. :)

True! I never forgot seeing "Godspell" live when I was 9.
