Dovey went to a softball tournament this weekend with her team. Eagle got a shot of her batting for me:
Her team went undefeated and took the championship trophy home:

So, Dan... When can you come to New Jersey and build us a purty shed and a new compost bin? Those are nice!

Softball is typically played by girls (and old fat men drinking to much beer). Most of the same baseball rules apply save for things like bunting, pitching and players on a team. The "softball" is a misnomer, as it isn't really soft...it's about twice the size of a "hardball" (regular baseball).

The underhand pitch is hilarious! How do you keep the ball from soaring overhead when you pitch like that? And since the ball is so large, are the gloves huge as well?

In slow pitch softball, you arc it in, kind of like a 12 to 6 curveball. In fast pitch, it's in the release point and "rolling" the ball off of the fingertips. Most overhand pitches in baseball tend to "drop" while in fast pitch softball, the pitches tend to "rise".

No, not really. A typical softball glove is about the same size length wise as an outfielder's glove in baseball, but it has a slightly bigger pocket.

Pardon? I couldn't hear you, my hearing aid battery died.
There 20 or so guys I play with, aged 18 to 55, that play every Sunday- there may be 3 or 4 of us that are fat...

I played in a league like that when I was going to LSU. Filled with mostly people who just missed the cut in the minor leagues (and a few who did play college ball or minor league ball at one time). To competitive for me...they all acted like each game was game 7 of the World Series. I like the league I'm in now. Most of us can't be bothered to even keep score.
