When he took off running and passed the line of scrimmage, we was no longer a QB, but a ball carrier. It is not illegal for head to head contact on a non receiving ball carrier.

I dont think helmet to helmet contact is legal in any instance. Rodney Harrison used to get fined for that all the time.
Did anybody hear Belichek blaming the field at Reliant Stadium for Welker's injury? Is this the same guy who ordered Foxboro be left uncovered overnight before the 2003 Colts/Pats AFC championship game and refused to answer rather the grounds crew watered down the field the night before with gardenhoses.
