What she said, YYZ...

Now, on the topic of guitars, I'd be interested in hearing what you guys think of the new Gibson BFG Les Paul. Be sure to click on the See More Photos link for better pictures.

Really? I think it's pug-ugly! Why in the world would I want to pay nearly $1000 for a guitar that's not even sanded and finished?

I think it looks like a well used guitar.

It has a weathered battered snakeskin look to it.

It's not a drum set.

In reply to what was going on yesterday:

All it took was one small incident to put everything into perspective- I went to gas up my car and there was a woman there who couldn't open her gas fill door, after helping her (I had to warm the door with my hands to get the lock to pop) things don't look nearly as crappy as they did yesterday. Thanks for the support ladies and gents :)

It is amazing how one small event can help us change our outlook on life, isn't it?

I am glad you are feeling better. :D

Elfie, why do I like it? Because it is so basic, so raw.

So gimicky, so overpriced. If you want a beat up Les Paul, get a $200 one from China and beat IT up.

Not if you explained to me that you were turning it into a Gibson BFG for $800 less. :)

LOL okay, okay.

Not gonna be buying one though. My next guitar will likely be an *coughs* acoustic electric.

All guitarists need at least one of those.

What I need is practice!

I do have good news though. The kids and I had stopped our music class when I went through a recent depression but we re-started it again today! We need to get used to playing together again and we started with an exercise to help us lock in with each other. After we ged the feel for playing together again (should be by Friday I expect) we will take up a simple song and move on from there. I hope to figure out the recording so we can share some music with you all.

You can Ged a "faded" STANDARD LP for the same price - if not cheaper.

There's always a catch. This here is a bare-boned, no-frills LP.

I'm biased though, as I don't particularly like the way they "feel" to begin with.

IMHO, if you're a LP player - it's all good. Go for it. :-D

Oh how I wish I understood you all :-D . I still feel a bit of a pervert posting here (does playing a guitar for three weeks count?) but I simply must 'big up' the following two artists.
From the 'Babel' soundtrack I discovered 'Gustavo Santaolalla', plays latin/acoustic (?) with such feel. Compiling an acoustic cd for the car I remembered the vaguely similar Jose Gonzales and the sublime 'Veneer' album. Good stuff :-) .
