We had rain but thankfully we are having sun now. My daughter has softball playoff games this week and I hate sitting in a downpour for two hours.

Speaking of where you live, I have a question for you, but I will e-mail it, biz it will take some time to answer, I think.
As for the desert, you could move up to the Olympic Peninsula.
