Everyone get your handbaskets ready.
Yes, if you take that bit out and listen only to the accused, I can see how it can be spun into a heroic mission accomplished. It does happen, though. Bad info, poor planning. A hundred things can go wrong. I am just weary of us, as a basically good and sometimes even great people not taking responsibility for actions. For Ged's sake, if we killed innocent men, women and children, I feel horrible and want to express our sadness and sorrow for this heroic act or blunder, however one chooses to look at it, not clutch at straws to try to justify it. That's all I'm sayin', sayin'?ElfDude wrote:Doesn't sound like a blunder...Big Blue Owl wrote:The U.S. military has not confirmed the attack, but an American official ? who would not be identified but has access to U.S. intelligence ? told CNN on Monday that U.S. forces had conducted a ?successful? strike into Syria on Sunday to kill a suspected al Qaeda facilitator believed be smuggling money, weapons and foreign fighters in to Iraq.
The intended target of the attack was ?Abu Ghadiya?, an Iraqi whose family has been active in smuggling across the Syrian border for ?some time,? the U.S. official told CNN.
My two cents . . . these people in other countries don't view the world the same as we do, and they take full advantage of this fact. They intentionally recruit women and children in order to play upon our sympathies. Here, we would never use these kind of people in order to commit the horrible terrorist acts we see them commit. In our ignorance, we assume they wouldn't either. When legitimate women and children terrorists are taken out, they can accuse us of violating our own mandates of civility. But, folks, they do not play by the same rules. They are fully aware of this fundamental difference, and they use it to pull us apart internally.Big Blue Owl wrote: For Ged's sake, if we killed innocent men, women and children, I feel horrible and want to express our sadness and sorrow for this heroic act or blunder, however one chooses to look at it, not clutch at straws to try to justify it. WASHINGTON ? Two white supremacists allegedly plotted to go on a national killing spree, shooting and decapitating black people and ultimately targeting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, federal authorities said Monday.
In all, the two men whom officials describe as neo-Nazi skinheads planned to kill 88 people ? 14 by beheading, according to documents unsealed in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.
The spree, which initially targeted an unidentified predominantly African-American school, was to end with the two men driving toward Obama, "shooting at him from the windows," the court documents show....
I respect every word you said, Zep...except Duh. Duh was a bit much. I'm not ignorant (a lot of things but not that.) But what you say may come dangerously close to "we can never be wrong. We have no remorse for anything. So what if a few non-enemy people die., etc. and if you think otherwise you're an ignoramus." Where have I heard that before?zepboy wrote:My two cents . . . these people in other countries don't view the world the same as we do, and they take full advantage of this fact. They use women and children for the sole purpose of being able to accuse the United States of violating international humanitarian law. DUH!!!
That's all I'm sayin'
Good thing MSNBC didn't report on it. They would have had to throw in some stuff about how they broke into the homes of civilians, terrorizing and shooting them...CygnusX1 wrote:From the MORE NEWS YOU WON'T SEE ON
