same information about the weather - in fact there was a lot of radio
chatter that the storm was 15 miles away. Depending on how fast the
storm is moving that's going to buy me 15-30 minutes of racing before
the red is thrown. I know what I am doing if I hear that on the radio and
I am on the lead lap - I am going to race the tires off the car to get to
the front and try to get at least a top 5.
You're right. It was strategy. I was just posting what the Junior haters
would say if it were Junior getting it....you know, like they way they
called Michigan a "gift" win for Junior back in '08...it was a fuel mileage
win....another common strategy.

Mine too. Apologies for not mentioning it earlier, and thanks for
reminding me. My thoughts are also with the victims of the WI
shootings too.

Let them say what they will - it's going to happen no matter what sport you watch. There are still Canucks fans that their asses are still sore that that Bruins won the Cup in '11 and blame everything from the officiating to witchcraft.

Well, it was a oily slide to the finish at Watkins Glen...most of the leaders
complained about the oil on the track, but Nascar neglected to throw a
yellow and clean it up. What was up with that?
It is what it is. Junior was 10th in the closing laps, hit oil and spun, had to
get new tires and wound up 28th.
He falls to 4th in points but is only 17 out of P1 going in to MICHIGAN,
where he scored that victory earlier this year. I like his chances to get
back on top in points there before heading to RIR and the Chase.

Trying to simulate road conditions on the Southeast Expressway!

Michigan again this weekend...an opportune time for Junior to get
the sweep AND take the points lead back.

True, but another WIN is all that matters to me right now.

How was it getting out of the area after the race, Soup?
(went to NHIS back in 2000 and swore I would never go to another race again because of the traffic)

actually not too bad, the track is out in the middle of nowhere and there are a lot of country roads leading out of it.. plus they open up US 12 to 3 lanes outgoing, they use the shoulders.. we usually get out of there pretty fast

That isn't a bad deal.
From what I have been told by someone who goes every year is that the NH state police look at the traffic flow/patterns each time a race is scheduled and try to figure out what they can do better. I have been told the traffic isn't as bad an issue the past couple of years as it was in 2000.

Okay, so now that we've seen what the 88 team does under adverse
conditions, I think they're ready for a Championship....don't you? I
mean, it's not enough that Nascar changed the tire for that race alone
and made mandatory rear sway bar settings for that race alone...it's
almost like they didn't want Junior to win it again, but I stretch. lol
Did you hear the radio whinefest by Gordon? Even Rick H stood with
Junior in doing what he did. SUCK IT UP JEFF. It's called RACING.
Junior's backup 88 car had never seen a lap on ANY track whatsoever
before it was unleashed at MIS. Went from 42nd to 4th....Them's Kyle
Busch numbers!
And MM almost got IMPALED! That was scary to watch, but I'm glad and
thankful he walked away without a scratch. Coolness all around.
This week it's BRISTOL! Short trackin' is my FAVORITE! Look for some
bragging rights between Shrub and Junior here.
GET SOME, JUNIOR.

Bristol was a bit discouraging with the way they milled down the high
banking, but it's not about Bristol....it's about JUNIOR! 12th place got
him LOCKED in the Chase. Now he and Steve can gamble and try new
stuff to get another win by the end of Richmond.
Let's see if Nascar takes points from Smoke for the helmet toss. Junior
got 25 points (and the 2004 Championship) taken way from him for
a cuss word on TV. I think that hurling a missile at another driver's
windshield on a prime time network TV broadcast would warrant some
points being taken away as well.
Did I mention Junior CLINCHED a Chase berth? Congrats to the 88 team.

Junior has a CRAP car at Altlanta, takes a gamble and stays out on a
caution and earns a T10 when it's over....talk about making chicken
salad out of chicken shi*t! You GO 88 team.
Junior knocked Jimmie out of 2nd in points going into RIR this Saturday
night. Smoke is appearing at the Office Depot here tomorrow.
You ready for the demolition derby at Richmond? It's ON.
We're going to separate the contenders from the pretenders...it's go
hard...or go HOME.
