I hold our vets in the highest regard for their devotion to freedom. However many people in the service today are in there because of economic reasons. I would like to think that we would of been advanced enough by now to not have too go to war, over in my mind, stupid ignorant reasons and it's a sad fact that our economy in part has always been sustained by wars. I have little regard for humanity as a whole and that's just me. People should open their eyes and see how life is beautiful but the blind will continue to fight each other for power greed and use religion
as an excuse some of the time. It's really F*&^ED UP! I could say on the other hand that a sad fact of the matter is our planet can only sustain so many and now for our economy we are using food for fuel further causing problems with feeding the earths over population. Watch what happens in Burma in the next weeks if the hoonta doesn't allow aid they will be killing each other over a handful of rice. Humanity has a long, long way to go and the way things are going we will all be dead and never get it right.

Know what is great about the military and low-income people who join it? Let's take my mom again as an example. She dropped out of school at age 14 to work because my grandma had broken her back. Mom got her GED when she turned 18 and entered the military. She came out of the military with an nursing license, a trade that she was able to use to get out of the poverty she'd grown up in. I don't look down on those who are impoverished who join the military, nor the military because people want to use it to make ends meet.

The two Iraq vets that I know best...

Well, one already had his engineering degree before he was deployed. The other was a humanities major when he was deployed. Neither one had to join the reserves because he was a slack-jawed yokel po' boy. And from what I hear, they are the rule, rather than the exception... that this is one of the best educated forces we've ever had.

I hope people realize what may happen if we pull out, it won't be pretty if the fantics take hold. I don't think it will happen no matter who wins the election for the life of me I can't understand who would want to inherit the crap we are in. Huge changes are going to have to be made and a lot of people are not going to like it so more than likely not much is going to change a few bones here and there and that's about it.

We're in it to win it, and for every negative story you see on the media,
there are 10 POSITIVE stories that never make it to broadcast and print.

It doesn't sell papers or get TV ratings, and that's just a pathetic motive.

Personally, I think we have the public to blame for allowing the media to pump this bilgecrap into our lives.

We have allowed this to happen, and we must be the ones to make it stop . . . if we have the kahunas . . .

The New York Times has really stepped-on-their-collective-peckers this
time....This is just OUT THERE...

(Whether you like John McCain or dislike him, agree with his policies or
disagree, there's no question that he is a true American hero, but the
looney left at the Times has tried to cheapen the wrong guy THIS time.)

New York Times Spins McCain's Vietnam Heroism

Despite John McCain's many serious flaws on issues like border defense,
free speech, and the potentially disastrous global warming hoax, there is
one thing no one can fail to admire: the awe-inspiring heroism he
demonstrated in Vietnam, where he essentially volunteered for years of
torture at the hands of communist goons.

Did I say no one? I forgot about the New York Times, which tries to spin
McCain's service against him:

"McCain's comrades in the Senate will not talk about this publicly. They
are wary of seeming to denigrate McCain's service, marked by his
legendary endurance in a Hanoi prison camp, when in fact they remain,
to this day, in awe of it. And yet in private discussions with friends and
colleagues, some of them have pointed out that McCain, who was shot
down and captured in 1967, spent the worst and most costly years of the
war sealed away, both from the rice paddies of Indochina and from the
outside world. During those years, McCain did not share the disillusioning
and morally jarring experiences of soldiers [and moonbats] like Kerry,
Webb and Hagel, who found themselves unable to recognize their enemy
in the confusion of the jungle; he never underwent the conversion that
caused Kerry, for one, to toss away some of his war decorations during a
protest at the Capitol. Whatever anger McCain felt remained focused on
his captors, not on his own superiors back in Washington."

In other words, McCain was so distracted by the communists breaking off
his teeth at the gumline that he didn't notice that America is the bad guy.

Those communists' ally John Kerry, who piddled around in Vietnam for a
few months, then went home to denounce American soldiers as war
criminals, suffered no such distractions.

Liberals are right that no one should question their patriotism.

Their lack of it is beyond question.

IMHO, anybody that still reads this garbage in the NYT needs a
checkup-from-the-neck-up.

Carry on.

*sigh*

Oh yeah, sure. He endures as a POW and that is somehow lesser than what someone like my dad went through out on the lines?
