I honestly appreciate your opinion. It is always nice to hear a view that differs from your own and the healthy debate that ensues.
Happy 2015!

Like another of others, I have little interest in politics so I tend to stay away from those sorts of threads. However, can't believe that you are being obnoxious if you think to ask the rest of us if we think you are (hope that makes sense).

If you really want to see obnoxious, go to the TNMS and Rushfan.co.uk forums and take a look at Slim's posts. That is the epitomy of bullish obnoxiousness.

Stay with it.

Every time he makes a post it 'the world according to Slim' and, according to him, Rush have been past it since Hemispheres and anyone who thinks otherwise is a total moron.

 Wow, Slaine! That IS obnoxious.

Don't get me wrong. I became a RUSH fan on their older stuff (tho it was already out) too and had to "adjust" to the later stuff as it came along but heckawmighty!!! Just makes you love the growth more!!!

I'm not usually Miss Quote The Article but just yesterday I was reading one of the articles in the new Billboard Mag and something Geddy and Alex said struck me as far as your friend Slim goes and you can pass it on. But I guess with his attitude even the Masters Themselves are wrong:

Geddy: "'Hemispheres' represents more and an end of a period, if anything. From my point of view, it was one more stab at this idea of a concept album in the form that we had been doing them, the long pieces interconnected as a very overt concept.

We've continued to do concept records, but they've been less overt and more just a kind of overall concept instead of a ramming-it-down-your-throad kind of idea (laughs)."

Alex: "By the time we got to 'Hemispheres' we felt that we had played that out. We had gone through that whole sword-and-sorcery thing, science-fiction sort of thing and I think we just felt like we needed to go into kind of a new direction. We needed to shorten the songs a little bit and carry a little more punch."

Then he goes on to talk about Permanent Waves and albums following.

oops! Sorry for hijacking the thread, Elfie! But Slaine cracked me up.

Here's his latest pearl of wisdom in the thread about the covers ep:

"This is exactly the kind of thing that old bands do when they've run out of ideas, isn't it? "

I sometimes wonder if the guy even likes Rush.

He's getting on my wick so much I've decided to discontinue on that forum. I'm only staying for the moment because its very new and I want to be the first to reach 100 posts.

I'm also seeing if I can get him to lose his temper by using quiet, logical arguments in response to his ranting and raving.

Am I evil?
Yes I am (according to the wife anyway)

Not interested in politics mainly due to my ignorance. Sure I digest the sound bites and have small opinions but I wouldnt know where to start.
Elf Dude, you're a welcome addition to the BT family and your opinions are simply that, opinions. No big deal. Your avatars are way too cool and for this alone you get the Ogg seal of approval.

I alone voted to kick you out  thinking you'll appreciate the humour.
Despite my internal cringing at uttering such a corny line... 'Rush On Dude'

The rogue element appears! I was wondering who would cast the first stone! Can I change my vote now!?
I remember watching in amazement as Geddy sang, played bass, and played the keyboards with his feet. I thought, "Who is this guy???"

Run out of ideas? Hmm, um...ideas like there is life AFTER Hemispheres??? Ideas like one can move ahead of sci-fi and fantasy and onto other ideas like human experience, integrity, observation of life and other deeper thoughts sought out through lyrics and musicianship and new arrangements? Yeah, obviously they've run out of THOSE ideas. (He's prolly just stuck in the past himself and can't handle that his beloved band has moved on so he has to blast them...Endlessly Rocking might call this "projection." )

The logic in his statement is hysterical.

Yet he probably still wants them in kimonos. (Well, actually I wouldn't mind seeing that again myself.  )
