My thoughts.

we have a problem here, because there's really no effective way at this point to cut through the beurocratic crap-cake we have made for ourselves. I would say revolution, but that won't work on many levels.

firstly, they got the guns, and we dont. it used to be a matter of sheer numbers (French Revolution) but it's not that way anymore. a thousand people could be leveled by a few bombs, or six or seven miniguns.

secondly, no one cares. "it's for our own good" they say, and believe it.
they trust the government to 'protect' them and their children from the big bad media, at about the same time that they sit down at their computers for a long night of internet pornography. and even if they did care, not enough people have the 'balls' to step up and say "WAIT ONE GODDAMN MINUTE!"

and thirdly, even if they did stand up and speak out, they'd be shut up by lawsuits, or paid off, or something to stop it. it pisses me off how badly our culture has degraded. and dammit, Bush, get your head out of your ass and your ass out of office. It looks to me like he's not gonna be elected for a second term... i've seen one add for the Bush campaign... it was a bumper-sticker, right next to an NRA plaque on the back of a green chevy pick-up.

[end tangent]

Welcome to the mis-information age. Luckily the power isn't all in one person's hands, one of the evil bastards would have taken control by now.

My thoughts:

Government is too controlling in the US.

Too many people in the US want to government to take care of them and try to weasel their way out of being accountable for their own actions.

Bush is not the (whole) problem. He did not ged us to where we are by himself. He inherited much of our trouble. This is not to say I agree with all he has done, but I think often the president (in the past as well as today) is often a scapegoat.

Our government should be primarily self-government. External government should only be for the protecting of the populace (true protection from outside threats, not from eating too much!) and for punishing those who refuse to self-govern themselves.

And, finally, a nit-pick: The constitution does not say freedom FROM religion. It says freedom OF. Re-read it.

The President is more a figurehead than anything. Why else do you think they come into office making so many promises while most of them go unfulfilled? ;)

What campaign promise do you remember Bush making that he hasn't kept? I'm not asking to be snide... I really don't remember any of his campaign promises.

In '92 I remember Clinton campaigning on a "middle class tax cut" and then after 100 days in office making an across the board tax hike...

Okay, I did a quick check and found two Bush campaign promises:
"I will restore honor and integrity to the White House" and to begin to "rebuild the military". Both of those he has held good on.

As far as the integrity of the white house goes, it's reassuring to have a guy in there now who has his eye on national security, rather than on the thong-clad behind of his intern.

i am neither a supporter of bushes means to do either of these, or external government at all, i think it should be obliterated completely, let the law enforcers be the closest thing to external government, we don't need to pay politicians to "work" when they're job can be done by anyone with a slightness of comon sense

When you say "law enforcers" to whom are you referring?

those who justly uphold the law, policing. the crooked ones get weeded out eventually and external government helps that not anyway

Posted: Sun Mar 21, 2004 12:28 am
by ElfDude
Where would the law that they uphold come from? And to whom would they be accountable?

you do not need government to determine a law, being as 99.9% of the laws that are enforced are God's law
