I had a nice Dodge Conversion Van from '78-'80.

Some homies in Baltimore needed it worse than I did one night, but
I was lucky enough to find it on my own.

The battery was gone and the cables cut, but some homies came
around the corner asking if I needed a battery.

That brought up a crucial decision:

I'm in SOUTH BALTIMORE...

I HAVE NO BATTERY....

THEY ONLY WANT TEN BUCKS FOR IT....

I paid the bruthas ten bucks, put my battery back in, and (pardon the pun....)

GOT THE HELL OUTTA DODGE.

I love Bo'Mo'.

So far, so good! They are paying for the rental car. I have filled out and sent in the required paperwork, and three weeks after the theft they will start proceedings to pay me fair market value for the car, provided it has not been found in that time. Luckily, we bought gap insurance, so we won't owe anything on it.

Well, yesterday in the middle of class the police called and said they found my van. At this point I am NOT happy about it because I'd said goodbye and mentally moved on to a new car. I was going to buy a Prius, and was looking forward to driving a cool, eco-friendly car. Now I'm stuck with the big ol' gas-guzzler, not looking forward to gas hitting $4/gallon and me getting maybe 20 mpg. I don't know if the van has been damaged, and I haven't heard back from the insurance adjuster despite two phone calls. Sigh...

Interesting timing. Just yesterday was the episode of Seinfeld where his car was stolen. Then when the police thought they'd found it, Jerry was called in to identify "the body".

Hopefully your emotions will settle soon and all will be well, Pan. Good vibes being sent your way.

Actually, it would have been better for me if it were not found. They would have totaled it for me, and since I have GAP insurance it would be all paid off. I don't want the van anymore (someone has been in it! Violated...) so if we trade it in we'll take a hit because we're upside down. :( After work today I have to go to the police dept and get a release form, then take it to the tow yard so they will release it to my insurance company. The insurance company will tow it to their storage facility, where they will send an estimator to see what kind of damage there is, if any. I will see if the tow yard operator will let me look at it while I'm there today so I have an idea of what to expect. :?
