I was referring to the fact that you can just switch to accordian on the spot to replace all your piano and organ spots, you play bass, six-string, you sing,....

The accordion arrived yesterday (just in time for the show). I took a couple of personal hours and left work early to go home and get ready.

I opened the box, unwrapped the instrument, and moved the bellows. Without pushing any keys or buttons a chord started droning. Uh oh. So I started experimenting with buttons, trying to find one that may be stuck or something. No luck. At this point I'm frustrated with the eBay seller who told me in was in excellent condition. Granted, it LOOKS brand new. It even still has the plastic on the wrist strap. But it's not WORKING properly.

Well, the sound is coming from the left-hand side under the 48 buttons. I know very little about what goes on under there, but I decided I could take a peek without hurting anything. So I get a screwdriver and remove the back plate. It's quite the network under there of stiff wires connecting the valves on the reeds up to all those buttons. Anyway, within 5 minutes I had located the part that was stuck and freed it. None of the buttons made it lock up again so I slap it back together and play it for a while to see if there's anything that will surprise me at the show (taking new gear to a show is kinda scary). But, it plays and sounds great. I'm now a happy camper who really needs to learn more about how to play these things.

By the way, the show went very well with only one "train wreck" song and a couple of small hiccups in others. The warm up act out-classed us, but we rock and he was mellow so people had a lot of fun with us too. I'm hoping that at some time in the future I'll be able to get some pictures and maybe a video posted.

Kinda scary, but you worked it out. Good for you!

I am glad to hear that although the gig, although not perfect, went well. How did the audience respond to the accordian?

I think this may have been the first show I've played with this band where, between teh bright lights on us and the dark house, I couldn't see any of the audience reactions. It was kind of weird just playing to the darkness...

Matt, I gotta send in my 2 cents.

Dude, I have played to all extremes of a venue, as have a lot of us here, it is cool to have faceless faces to play to.

Dark is good.............................sometimes.

Unfortunately, my gigs are not as populas as I would like, (the no smoking) thing, HAS CRIPPLED THE LIVE MUSIC THING HERE. :x

We get half occupancy most of the time.

Nice pic too, by the way.
