My grandmother is half English and half Scottish. Her maiden name was Black, but only because the ancestors changed it from MacGreggor. Having that surname was punishable by death in centuries past, when people were still rather sore about the whole rebellion.

So the MacGregor's were a bunch of hostile squatters, and Rob Roy was a cattle theif who extorted money from neighboring clans. That made him a national hero?

Bwahahahahahah! Oh, the North Sea is awash in irony. A teacher in junior high school once asked our class to make family crests, in order to represent the values of our herritage. Being Irish as well, I wanted to use the slogan "Bloodthirsty Celts, and Damned Proud of It!" She wasn't keen so keen on the idea. Philistine.

My fathers ancestors weren't much better. His family were horse thieves. I come from a long line of drunken bullshit artists. :-D

Actually yes it did make him a national hero.....fuck William Wallace dealt in guerilla warfare and he has and always will be the biggest national hero we will ever have....and as for directing me to they web-sites I could direct you to http://www.electricscotland.com/webclan ... greg2.html which tells you that the Campbells...another ruthless clan...actually obtained the land that the MacGregors had by legal means

The Scots were a very blood thirsty race...and I have to say...not that that I'm wanting us to murder anyone...I am sad that we have turned into a submissive race ruled by the English
