The fire came within 3 feet of our cabin. The smoke you see is from the fire which was still burning under the ground. Forestry came and put it out with their pumper truck.

BAGHDAD - American troops acting on a tip killed the No. 2 leader of
al-Qaida in Iraq, a Moroccan, in a raid on one of the terror group's
command centers in the north, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

The Oct. 5 death of the man known as Abu Qaswarah was a major blow to
the terror network as American commanders have warned it remains a
significant threat. The military statement described him as a charismatic
leader who trained in Afghanistan and managed to rally al-Qaida
followers in Iraq despite U.S. and Iraqi security gains.

The insurgent leader, also known as Abu Sara, became the senior
al-Qaida in Iraq emir of northern Iraq in June 2007 and had "historic ties
to AQI founder Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and senior al-Qaida leaders in
Afghanistan and Pakistan," the military said.

Rear Adm. Patrick Driscoll said Abu Qaswarah directed the smuggling of
foreign terrorists into northern Iraq and reportedly killed those who tried
to return to their homelands rather than carry out suicide bombings and
other attacks against Iraqis.

The announcement would indicate that al-Qaida in Iraq's leadership has
maintained a presence, though there have been recent reports that many
had migrated to Afghanistan and Pakistan where fighting has been on the
rise.

Soldiers killed Abu Qaswarah after coming under fire during a raid on a
building that served as an al-Qaida in Iraq "key command and control
location" in Mosul, according to a statement, which called him "al-Qaida in
Iraq's second-in-command" as the senior operational leader for the head
of the network, Abu Ayyub al-Masri.

Abu Qaswarah ? one of five insurgents killed ? has been positively
identified, the military said, without elaborating.

I am sure this point is already made at one point in time here but will that actually weaken them, at all. I mean you are dealing with terrorists posing as religious fanatics, every leader you kill is the most holy martyr then, it may serve only to strengthen their resolve. Ideally you need a way to contain them without destroying them, unfortunately such is the bane of fervor.

Another minority PC government, liberals lost about 20 seats, PC gained 15, bloc still helps maintain the fact most of our governments are monitor and only the insane quebecois vote for them of course. Much closer to a majority government than expected ( with 306 seats in the house of commons majority entails having greater than half of the seats, opposed to just the majority of them making you a minority government).

This, for me is good news, no carbon tax, or NDP throwing money at the problems expected instant change and ammoutning massive national debt.
