Correct me if I'm wrong, 'cause I'm bound to be, but isn't the root of the word "conservative" "conserve?" Given the choice to use a 13 watt energy saver bulb that gives relatively the same light (not heat, use a heating device for heat, yeah?) as a 60 or 75 watt bulb to save money and energy, why wouldn't one? Do we have to be forced to do the right thing, or is it just in our nature to abandon antiquated methods and products for more efficient, human and earth-friendly inventions?
Does this mean I'm a conservative? I hate illegals too, that certainly should qualify me!

The only thing about the "Swirly lights" I don't like is the warm up time to get the same light as the regular bulbs. We have used both kinds for a number of years and they are good for the 'Conserve part'.
Other than that, they suck.
I want to see when I throw the switch, not a few seconds after the fact.

If we're going to take the conservationist standpoint, a new problem is arising because of increased "swirly light" use... the landfills don't know what to do with them because of their mercury content. By banning regular bulbs the govt has just created a new problem, in addition to taking another step towards totalitarianism.

Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?
I dont think you did that. I think you brought up some good points. Sometimes that happens in conversations (or on this board we go off topic quite a bit) I dont think it needs to be moved....ElfDude wrote:If we're going to take the conservationist standpoint, a new problem is arising because of increased "swirly light" use... the landfills don't know what to do with them because of their mercury content.
