Have any of you looked at images of the US on google earth? Notice just how much of what was once natural land IS NOW FARMLAND AND SUBURBS? Look at the rest of the world...now tell me this is not significantly effecting our atmosphere and oceans!

I look at google earth all the time, tried to search for Steve Fossett
at one time. Too bad they never found him. The planet is looking less
natural rapidly.

"Factory" farms are detrimental, read Jane Goodall's "Harvest for Hope"
to learn why. "Sustainable" farming is preferable and should be the way of the future.

Global warming, imho, is not only caused by greenhouse effect.
It is a combo of many different forces aligning at the same time
causing visible disastrous effects.

If you look through the threads in here where man-made global warming has been discussed, you will find that I have done my best (most of the time at least) to make my posts based in science and in fact. Your posts, on the other hand, are generally based on emotion and melodrama, sometimes with a little bit of anecdotal climate information thrown in.

But at the same time, you ciriticize me because I believe in God.

In this discussion, which one of us is acting like the religious zealot and which is basing his argument on science?

You have a tendency to put words into peoples mouths too.

What was wise-ass in my reply? It was a simple question. I had never heard of someone opposed to farmland (ranches, yes, but not farmland or farms). That was completely new to me. So I asked, "You're opposed to farms?" No name calling. No shocked-looking or eye-rolling emoticons. A plain question. And I get called either stupid or an ass for it.

I must have a bit of an evil streak in me because I can't get this silly grin off my face.

So are we all ok now, or what?

But every child/person has to go to school and not all school people (and parents) are Christians (and/or religious.) How, then, do we have God in all classrooms when some or even half or more don't have/need/want him in their lives?
My History teacher taught that one of the top reasons for leaving old home lands and coming to the new world was to seek religious freedom. In every class seems like forcing everyone to accept one theology/theory.

I have mostly Navajo in me, but I am also descended from Edward Winslow, someone who lived in Plymouth Plantation. He suffered greatly so I could be and have that which he only dreamt of being and having. I agree with your history teacher, and I value, greatly, religious freedom.

That said, I don't think that all classes in all schools must have the religious taught. I attended a non-denominational Christian school from second week of K through jr. high and then I attended various public schools for sr. high as we moved about the country. That kind of freedom is what I want in our country. And not just non-denominational Christian schools in which all classes have the religious taught, but denominational Christian, Muslim, and Hindu and Buddhist, and Dyanetic, and whatever other religion wishes to raise their children with their beliefs and whoever wants to raise their children without a specific religious training should have schools that don't put any one faith forward.

I will say, however, that not all children must attend school. There are laws (laws I am VERY grateful for) that allow parents to keep their children home and educate them.

should be qualified to say that, for those who believe this, it should be allowed, not condemned outright. Otherwise, what do we have? We have a system that says only the beliefs of some may be taught. Acks!

I'm beginning to see another important reason why home-schooling is an intelligent and freeing alternative.

Because you can wear boxers or go comando if you want and no one will see in the locker room?
