The little key clickers put out a radio frequency. I had no idea that a cell phone would receive and broadcast that radio frequency. I wanna try it.
And yes indeed, your cell phone uses RF too. Upwards and beyond 800-900Mhz band.ElfDude wrote:The little key clickers put out a radio frequency. I had no idea that a cell phone would receive and broadcast that radio frequency. I wanna try it.
Well, sure... but I thought all that it was bothering to transmit was the voice data being fed into its microphone. If it's rebroadcasting radio frequencies around it... why would it... okay, there's a lot I don't know about cell phone technology (being just an old ham fan myself). I'm dying to try the experiment!CygnusX1 wrote:And yes indeed, your cell phone uses RF too. Upwards and beyond 800-900Mhz band.ElfDude wrote:The little key clickers put out a radio frequency. To be fair, I haven't tried it either, but it's basically the same thing OnStar does.ElfDude wrote:Well, sure... but I thought all that it was bothering to transmit was the voice data being fed into its microphone. That's what I was so ineloquently trying to say. Good to know I'm thinking logically.Relaying remote entry system signals via telephone might work if the signals were sound-based, but they're not. An RKE system transmits an encrypted data stream to a receiver inside the automobile via an RF (radio frequency) signal, a signal that can't be effectively relayed via cell phone.
