I knew he had cancer, but this still seemed sudden to me. Hit me deeply.YYZ30 wrote:Cancer took him.CygnusX1 wrote:no kidding?
come to think of it, he didn't look too healthy some years' past when he was a regular either....I take it he was ill for some time huh?
That's too bad...I liked him as a heel...he used to pick up Jimmy Hart with one arm...
He was from Surrey, British Columbia. The first time I ever saw him was on a BCTV news/sports item when a sumo wrestler from Japan came to look for recruits in Canada. He was impressed by this one guy - Tenta was in the background. He was a big guy, with girth, and he could bend straight down and put his hands on the floor.
A few years later, there was a followup story, where he stated he was coming back to Canada. The sumo wrestling was okay, but the cultural differences involved in the sport werenot to his liking - he did not like how, as a "junior" member, he was expected to help the "senior" members that he trined with, ie help bathe them, do their har, wash their clothes etc., So he was coming home, and going into pro wrestling here.
I next saw him a few times on All Star Wrestling based out of Cloverdale (another Vancouver suburb)- just a small regional operation. Television coverage of this was lacking. Next, I saw him being picked out of a crowd at a WWF event - he was asked to sit on Dino Bravo's back as Bravo did push-ups. HA-ha stupid Ultimate Warrior wanted the same and got squashed.
god I hate HoganCygnusX1 wrote:yes, and the thing that made those matches so good was....
all those wrestlers had NO real wrestling ABILITY hahahaha
Hulk, Tugboat and Hurricane were just brawlers, and had no real skills to speak of...
In fact, Hurricane would just SIT ON HIS OPPONENT'S CHEST for a pin if I'm not mistaken...
Hulk is SO predictable though...This was his usual match M.O. :
--3 Punches to the head
--Irish Whip
--Big boot to the face
--Leg drop
--Pinfall
*YAWN*
thank GOD Hulk retired, and ECW is back!
add in the "Hulking up" part, and you have described 99% of his matches
he was originally releaseda little over a year ago, but was reluctantlyCygnusX1 wrote:cool! once again, YYZ makes me smart!

re-signed because of the real-life Edge-Lita-MAtt Hardy angle. The WWE angle they did sucked (Hardy was portrayed as weak during it, losing to people like Snitsky - for any angle to work he has to be shown as a strong character leading up to his eventual match with Edge, a match where he was basically squashed). WWE really droipped the ball on this one. Anyway he was moved to Smackdown where he continuously gets buried.
I think (and most certainly am hoping) that he goes to ECW where he could be put to better use
Cool funky!!!
Yeah, you pretty much hit it on the head...Crowbar and D. Flair...those were the days...Daphne's pie too...
I broke down and got ECW ONS last night with my bud...
I taped it and didn't get to see the Cena/RVD match(hadda go to work early), but the others were pretty good...The fans were INSANE, and showed NO LOVE for WWE as predicted...Oh man, The Edge/Foley/Funk/Dreamer match was OFF THE HOOK!!!...Tell ya more later...
I saw the "sign of the decade" up in the arena last night...gonna post it on the sign thread...
