One Week from This Moment
I'll be in surgery. I'm not too scared, but I am a bit wigged out about the amount of recovery time. I've never had a scheduled surgery before (had an emergency one for my appendix, so I didn't have to pre-think the problems), so it's starting to weigh on my mind.
Wish me luck!!!

Oh, of course.schuette wrote:can I ask why your having surgery...?
I've been a gardener/landscaper for the past 20+ years. (I'm a Master Gardener.) It's taking its toll on this old body, via wear and tear. This past year was super busy with installs. Last summer I was averaging 10 hour days, planting about 800 plants a day (4 inch and 1 gallon, not 5 or 15 gallon ones), as a client was having a 2 million dollar wedding at her house. The place looked spectacular, but I wore my shoulder out. (Not to mention, my 20 other clients needing my services.) Being a stubborn ass, I kept working instead of taking a few weeks off to heal. Then when I was doing the Fall/Winter plantings and pruning six months ago, my shoulder just gave out. I have one completely torn tendon, another tendon hanging on by a thread, other tears and impingment in my shoulder, so they are going to go in and spend three hours sewing everything back together.
I took February, March and the first half of April off, hoping I'd heal on my own. But the surgeons say that the tendons won't re-attach on their own, so they scheduled surgery. I'm back at work now, popping pain pills, as I have to get the Spring/Summer installs in. Gotta keep those client's satisfied, right?
Anyhoo, that's why I'm having surgery. They say I'll be off work 4-6 months, which is totally depressing, since I'm self employed and don't get workman's comp.
Shoot, if the world ends tomorrow, DA, does that mean I should skip work today?
first of all I'm gonna give you a row for not taking a few weeks off to heal .....2nd that is so shitty that cuz your self employed your not gonna get any help from the government!
I wish you all the best with your surgery and I hope it doesnt hurt too much...
and it may be tough but please take off the time that you need to heal...the lack of money will be really hard but your body is more important...

Ta muchly. I made all the contacts I need for the week, but I've still to actually fill in three of the four applications. God I'm lazy. -_-
Anyway, I've got a kitchen that needs cleaning (don't want my aunt jumping down my throat for something two days in a row, I might go postal), so I'll be back soonly. *huggles and dives*
