is anyone gonna be trying to catch a glimpse of Comet 73P/Schwassmann Wachmann...it has broken up into about 60 pieces now and will be passing the Ring Nebula in the constellation of Lyra on the 7th of May...keep your fingers crossed for clear skies that night...you unfortunately need a telescope for this...
also if you get a chance to see Jupiter through a telescope the now its amazing....it's really close...on the 6th of May it will only be 410 million miles away....again since it will be up for one complete turn of the planet...it takes 10 hours... keep fingers crossed for clear skies
even if you've not got a telescope take a look east at sunset..you cant miss Jupiter it's 10 times brighter than any star around it...just look at it and be amazed at what's out there...
If you live on or near the ocean, you get a much better refraction than further inland...
When I was underway on Navy ships, you could see most of the planets with the naked eye on clear nights...
I'll be looking upward too...we had a nice clear night last night, with a half-moon and a couple planets visible on (our) western horizon...I would assume Venus and Mars..
