Don't tell me about rock and roll I'm out there in the clubs and on the streets and I'm living it! I am rock and roll!
They're ALL cool 'till they crack
One mistake I made when I drummed was using polymer sticks...they were indestructible, so I would break CYMBALS before the sticks.....needless to say...I went back to wooden 5B's....better to break sticks than Cymbals...
Then I discovered the guitar.....Life's never been the same either...ROCK ON!!! ( I feel like Dave Grohl...hahahaha)

I CAN'T believe you said that, siggy! My first drumset was a Slingerland blue sparkle with Zildjen cymbals (well, my second...not counting the three-piece cracker jack one I had).CygnusX1 wrote:They're ALL cool 'till they crack![]()

The ride cracked BADLY and I was so PISSED. I went to my drum teacher about it (he studied with Krupa but it didn't help how BAD I was, heh heh) and he told me to drill a hole in the cymbal at the end of the crack.
Actually, it worked quite nicely! Gave it a nice "shimmer" sound. Yeah. I couldn't afford to replace it anyway.

Freeze this moment a little bit longer...
been there/done that hahaha I have to admit though....I had a Zil ride cymbal that was like fort knox...but then again...most of us didn't thrash a ride cymbal...the crashes and splashes are the usual victims...
still though, it all went away when I went back to light wooden sticks...it's all about cost-effectiveness, so break sticks...they'll make more
hahaha
