Nonetheless, they are still stories. And people (children) DO like stories.awip2062 wrote:Not much. I read some, but I read most everything I could ged my hands on. Still, I didn't care for them.Sympho wrote:
You never liked fairy tales when you were a little kid..?

I thought that Gandalf did that??KaelMwithascrubbrush wrote:Personally, I'm looking forward to Eowyn kicking the Lord Nazgul's butt!!! (Ok, and Miranda Otto's smile doesn't hurt none either )
Anyway, I disagree with you there. For me the Nazghul are Very Very Cool!! (why do people always tend to have a 'soft spot' for Evil?)

Nope, it's actually Merry and Eowyn working together; Merry's sword "[shears] through the black mangle, and [passes] up beneath the hauber [and pierces] the sinew behind his mighty knee," but she lops of the Lord Nazgul's head...pp. 823-824 of the novel. I really like Merry, and think Dom Monighan is doing a fantastic job of portraying him...I especially like him in the Southfarthing leaf scene in the extended version of TTT. And Billy Boyd doe a great Pippin. And Andy Serkis as Smegol...OH MY FREAKING GOSH!!!Sympho wrote:I thought that Gandalf did that??KaelMwithascrubbrush wrote:Personally, I'm looking forward to Eowyn kicking the Lord Nazgul's butt!!! I agree, Kael! Actually, I think the entire cast is superb. I think the casting folks should win an award!
I just watched the extended Two Towers over the weekend to prepare for Return of the King. I'm going to try to see it opening night...we'll see if I can get tickets....
Yeah, the bonus material of how they created Gollum was awesome. Andy Serkis sure put himself through a lot! Another award winner, if ya ask me!

I was lined up for glory, but the tickets sold out in advance

Things to do durring ROTK
1. Stand up halfway through the movie and yell loudly, "Wait... where
the hell is Harry Potter?"
2. Block the entrance to the theater while screaming: "YOU SHALL NOT
PASS!" - After the movie, say "Lucas could have done it better."
3. Play a drinking game where you have to take a sip every time someone
says: "The Ring."
4. Point and laugh whenever someone dies.
5. Ask everyone around you if they think Gandalf went to Hogwarts.
6. Finish off every one of Elrond's lines with "Mr. Anderson."
7. When Aragorn is crowned king, stand up and at the top of your lungs
sing, "And I did it.... MY way...!"
8. Talk like Gollum all through the movie. At the end, bite off
someone's finger and fall down the stairs.
9. Dress up as old ladies and reenact "The Battle of Helms Deep" Monty
Python style.
10. When Denethor lights the fire, shout "Barbecue!"
11. In TTT when the Ents decide to march to war, stand up and shout "RUN
FOREST, RUN!"
12. Every time someone kills an Orc, yell: "That's what I'm Tolkien
about!" See how long it takes before you get kicked out of the theatre.
13. During a wide shot of a battle, inquire, "Where's Waldo?"
14. Talk loudly about how you heard that there is a single frame of a
nude Elf hidden somewhere in the movie.
15. Start an Orc sing-a-long.
16. Come to the premiere dressed as Frankenfurter and wander around
looking terribly confused.
17. When they go in the paths of the dead, wait for tense moment and
shout, "I see dead people!"
18. Imitate what you think a conversation between Gollum, Dobby and Yoda
would be like.
19. Release a jar of daddy-long-legs into the theater during the Shelob
scene.
20. Wonder out loud if Aragorn is going to run for governor of California.
21. When Shelob comes on, exclaim, "Man! Charlotte's really let herself go!"

Very funny, Startercus. Oh, and Gandalf did not go to Hogwarts, but Godrick Griffendor was his paduan learner. "When lives of men three hundred you reach, smell as good you will not."Aerosmitten wrote:Things to do durring ROTK
